Melika truly cherishes each and every client with genuine and gentle approach. She facilitates an atmosphere in which her clients recognize their self-worth, strengths, and potentials. She assists clients with developing new skills to live better and become the best version of themselves. This empowers them to release their inner power and resiliency in order to overcome their unique challenges and have a new hope and vision towards life.
Melika works with children, youth, adults, and seniors dealing with trauma (sexual abuse/assault; ICBC accidents; illness); loss (death, grief, divorce, life transitions; immigration; job displacement; career changes); mental health issues (anxiety, depression, anger issues, PTSD, OCD); and psychotic, neurotic, and personality disorders (OCD, OCPD, schizophrenia). She also helps people to elevate their self-esteem and pursue a journey of personal growth. She enjoys helping her clients in being confident, assertiveness and self-compassionate.
Melika is resourceful and provides effective strategies for clients tailored to their individual situation. This includes various modalities such as Art Therapy (no artistic skills are required), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Melika has experienced different personal challenges that led her to seek counselling, which resulted in great benefits and healing for herself. This inspired her to pursue this practice and provide a positive involvement to make a difference in the lives of her clients. Melika sees it as her life purpose to support her clients in their path towards positive transformation.
Melika holds a Master’s (MA) in Counselling: Art Therapy Program (MCP-AT) from Adler University. She also holds a BA and second MA in Clinical Psychology.
Melika is fluent in Farsi as well as English.
