Victoria’s counselling style is person-centred and grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She believes that each individual is the expert on their own life and strives to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. While incorporating CBT techniques to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, Victoria tailors her approach to each person’s unique needs, values, and lived experiences.
Victoria’s group facilitation style is collaborative, transparent, and participant-centred. She believes that establishing rapport and creating a psychologically safe environment are essential to meaningful participation and group cohesion. Victoria works alongside group members to develop shared expectations, encourages open, respectful dialogue, and values each participant’s unique perspectives and lived experiences. Her facilitation approach balances structure with flexibility, allowing discussions to evolve organically while keeping the group’s goals in focus.
Being a woman of colour is a meaningful part of Victoria’s identity and shapes the values she brings to every aspect of her life. As a second-generation Bahamian, Victoria has strong ties to her cultural roots and is an active member of the Caribbean community in Victoria, B.C. Victoria volunteers as the coordinator of the Caribbean cultural booth at the annual i-Land Festival, where she helps celebrate and share Caribbean culture, traditions, and history with the broader community. Outside of work, Victoria values family, community, resilience, and cultural pride.
