Doug can help his clients feel at ease, cared for, and seen. His clients feel safe with him as he provides them with ideas, strategies, and techniques to help them take control of their lives. As a therapist, he understands the importance of balancing making progress in therapy with a pace that feels manageable and comfortable for his clients. He feels honoured to be part of his clients’ healing journeys.

Doug has been working in the counselling field for over thirty years. He specializes in working with trauma and addictions. He also works with the issues that often lead up to or are affected by those concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue. His general approach demonstrates his compassion, caring, sensitivity, and desire to support people. He uses EMDR, hypnosis, an acupressure approach called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), mindfulness techniques, and somatic methods to provide complete healing to the people he helps.

As a therapist and a Chi Kung instructor, Doug embodies a holistic approach to health and healing. Chi Kung, a practice he teaches, offers simple and quick methods to restore and maintain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. His book, ‘EMDR and the Universal Healing Tao’ co-authored with Mantak Chia, delves into the connections between depression, anxiety, trauma, and addictions, offering a new technique to address these issues. This comprehensive approach instills hope and optimism in those seeking his help.

When he is not seeing clients, he continues to learn about Taoism, the spiritual philosophy on which the Chi Kung he learns is based. Studying Taoism helps Doug learn how to live in harmony with his surroundings. Doug enjoys practicing Chi Kung, reading, and drawing. He also enjoys traveling to warm climates with spicy food and beautiful sights.
