Amara has a warm, gentle, and strengths-based approach to counselling. She believes that the client is the expert on their own life. She provides a safe space to help them process blocked emotions and provides tools to help them thrive. She has witnessed the powerful healing that can occur within the therapeutic relationship. Amara’s clients feel understood and empowered because of working alongside her.

She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and received her Master’s in Counselling Psychology with a specialization in school and youth from Adler University. Her therapeutic approach is Person-Centered Therapy; believing that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill their own potential. She provides the conditions necessary for growth and positive change to occur. Her genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard provide a nonjudgmental space for her clients. She tailors her approach to fit the unique needs of each client and uses modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches. She works at a pace that feels comfortable for each client.

Amara is specialized in helping clients going through life transitions, experiencing grief and loss, and dealing with physical injuries. She has experience working with youth and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. These issues can be triggered by lack of boundaries and/or inability to recognize and express emotions.

Amara has experienced the counselling process as a client herself. She can appreciate the courage it takes to be vulnerable and the reward of continuing to grow and evolve as a human. She loves being outside in nature and can’t live without her daily walks and cups of tea. She has a personal passion for writing and is a poet at heart. Amara is passionate about counselling and is inspired by seeing the renewed hope and the progress that her clients make.
