Yasaman Madanikia is the leading Clinical Director and Counsellor at Expressions Counselling. She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Play Therapist, and Art Therapist.
Having experienced the counselling process herself, she knows how exhausting it is to deal with mental health issues. However, she also knows that there is hope for people to feel better once they are given the support, the unconditional positive regard, and the psychological tools that they need.
Yasaman enjoys applying her education and experience in her private practice, assisting her clients to achieve their mental health. She uses an integrative therapeutic approach in her practice, using a mix of Mindfulness Approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Therapies, and Trauma-Informed Practices. She adjusts her approach based on the needs of her clients and their goals. Yasaman enjoys working with children and youth who struggle with anxiety, depression and family issues. She also enjoys working with individuals who have been in ICBC accidents and women who have been victims of sexual abuse or other traumas.
She brings over nine years of experience working with children, youth, adults, and families. She has had the opportunity to work with various organizations such as Children’s Foundation, Burnaby School District, North Shore Multicultural Center, Maxxine Wright Women’s Shelter, Children Who Witness Abuse Program, and Southridge School. She has taken on various roles such as behaviour interventionist, special educational assistant, youth worker, art therapist, play therapist, school counsellor, and clinical counsellor.
Counselling is not only a career for her; it is also her passion. She feels really grateful to be making a difference in the lives of people who seek her help and for teaching and supporting her associates and practicum students.
